D.J. SHAME (Vinyl Reanimators)

First introduced to rap music at a local roller skating rink..."rapper's delight"...sent me on a quest for more.

-85: Did the b-boy thing along with a little bit of graff....completely embracing the entire hip hop culture.

First heard "the adventures of grand master flash on the wheels of steel".....I immediately knew that I wanted to be a D.J......one of my favorite records of all time.

Finally got enough money for D.J. equipment...2 Technics SLQ200X turntables & a Numark mixer. Six months later I upgraded to SL-1200 MK2's.

D.J.'d first party along with weekly spots at a roller rink and Club Uptown in Worcester, Ma.
Got first drum machine "Korg Super Drums" & a Tascam 4-Track cassette recorder. Began programming beats and producing tracks as well as 4-track D.J. megamixes.

-88: Did numerous shows with local old school legend MC Gary Gee and recorded a number of tracks.

Began working with husband & wife rap duo Life & Nefertiti from Queens, N.Y. Formed the group "Manju" and began recording as well as rocking shows throughout the tri-state area.

Manju signed with Boston based "Race Records"....home to the T.D.S. Mob. Recorded first single "prophecy/good to the last drop", but Manju disbanded in 1990 before the single was to be released. Was invited to compete in the New Music Seminar's "D.J. Battle For World Supremacy" with D.J.'s such as Richie Rich, Aladdin, Miz and Muggs.

Won 1st place in the "Boston Battle of the D.J.'s".
Was invited by (soon to be close friend) Jamieson Grillo to be a guest D.J. on his radio show “Rap Devastation” at WRBB in Boston, which ended up turning into a 5 year gig that Jamieson continued to host until 91.

Entered radio D.J. remix contest from Ruffhouse/Columbia for "Bronx Nigga" by Tim Dog. Won 1st place with the prize being a Numark dual CD player and the remix pressed on promo only vinyl......my 1st time on wax.
Through Ed O G & the Bulldogs I met Joe Mansfield who produced the majority of Ed's 1st LP. Found that Joe, like myself was into digging much deeper than most at that time. We began collaborating on Ed O G, the Bulldogs & Scientifik tracks. Met and became good friends with Sean C who was far behind myself & Joe as far as knowledge of beats, breaks & production.....but quickly learned and accelerated.

In Feb. I recorded "Traveling through sample land" for my own listening pleasure. I hit off a few industry friends with copies and Bobbito convinced me to sell copies out of his store "Footwork" the following year. I was also
selling copies in California through my very good friend D.J. Rob One (RIP).

Formed the production crew "Vinyl Reanimators" consisting of Myself, Sean C and Joe Mansfield. Produced "jungles of da east" for Scientifik (RIP). The 1st record to bear the Vinyl Reanimators name.

Moved from Massachusetts to Brooklyn, N.Y. along with Sean C to be more involved in the music game. Shortly after I did the remix to "fast life" by Kool G Rap & Nas.

Unfortunately I had to move back to Ma. to begin building a case in order to pursue a custody battle for my daughter. Shortly after I produced "Too Complex / it's your life" for L the Head Toucha and we released it ourselves on Direct Records.

-98: Recorded a number of more tracks with different artists until the custody battle began in early 98.

-03: Took about 6 years to finally win the custody battle for my daughter. Couldn't really do much music during these stressful years but did do a few tracks for a friend that I didn't really feel 100%.

-05: Began working with rock band "Trip Society" as well as an old school crew of MC's "The Average White Boys". Played numerous shows and recorded tracks with both groups.

-05: Formed the band "Giraffe" with a few incredibly talented musicians......but unfortunately Giraffe called it quits in early 05.

Finally released a follow up vol. 2 to the original "Traveling through sample land" which gained worldwide recognition amongst beat heads & vinyl diggers.....and is usually referred to as the original sample break mixtape.

Began old school hip hop & breaks weekly radio show on XM 65 The Rhyme. Also currently working on various projects to be released in 06.
